Dear SCCS parents,

Happy fall to everyone!  This is our family's favorite month of the year. Part of that is the cooler temperatures, football, and lovely colored leaves, and part of it is because we celebrate my husband's birthday and mine too, in October. I hope that your family is enjoying the pretty weather and that you have reasons to celebrate also!

This month has a few opportunities for outside fun. There is still room for the Baker Farm trip so you can sign up for that on the website if you are interested.

It has been a busy few weeks with extra-curricular activities and I am again reminded how much better we all function when our routine stays calmer, with regular school days most of the week. Field trips are such a fun way to learn, but too many take away from our regular classwork, and the change in structure affects some of my children differently than others. Some thrive on routine and some are really adaptable. Even 8 years into this journey, I continue to learn lessons, including simplifying our outside activities so that we are more willing students and nicer family members.

My encouragement to you is to be aware of the benefit and also potential complications from outside activities and weigh them carefully as you make decisions about what to include in your weeks. I hope that you can join us occasionally for activities, but never feel guilt if you know it is best to keep your children home - for their sake or yours! I am praying that you lean on the Lord for understanding and wisdom as you parent and teach your children. He is the only One we really need to please and will guide us as we ask Him for His will in all decisions.

Please let me know if there are questions I can help with or ways I can pray for your family specifically. I am grateful for you all!
