Dear SCCS parents,
My favorite month is here, and already, cooler temperatures as well. I'm so grateful for the variety our climate offers, and the God who gave us beautiful creation to enjoy.
We have some great activities lined up this month that might be fun to incorporate into your schedule. We strive to balance educational outings with some that are also service projects, and offer a few relaxed fellowship times like Park Day and Support Group meetings every month. Hopefully these are meeting your needs and if you have suggestions or ideas to improve the Events Calendar, just let me know!
I wanted to address a few of the reasons we add in service projects periodically. First, we want our children to learn that giving of our time and resources to others is ministry and something that we are all called to do as believers. It is also helpful to encourage a priority of putting others first and not encouraging an entitled perspective. Stretching ourselves to serve others and allow the Lord to expose us to people from various walks of life is really loving like Jesus, which hopefully is something we should all desire. Finally I think this verse sums up our ultimate motivation which is to glorify God.
Matthew 5:16:
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
