Continuing Education for Home-Educating Families by Eleanna Burke

Public school certified teachers have continuing education ongoing every year; they are constantly learning new methods and studying the learning process and the human brain. So, why don’t homeschool parents have more opportunity for ongoing education? That’s why I’m starting a series of webinars this year, designed just for the homeschool family!

First up: MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
A three part webconference series about “Multiple Intelligences in your Homeschool”. Multiple Intelligences theory holds that every child is smart in one of 8 unique ways. So then, parents don’t need to wonder, “Is my child smart?” The better question is, “HOW is my kid smart?” Each child is smart in a different way!
So, what are the 8 multiple intelligences? How do different intelligences influence learning styles? What intelligences do my kids have? How do multiple intelligences impact my teaching and curriculum choices? What kinds of careers are best suited for my kid’s intelligences? These questions and more will be answered in a series of three facebook live videos as well as discussion and handouts.
I became interested in the concept of Multiple Intelligences about three years ago. I have attended several seminar sessions and read at least three books on the concept. I am compiling the sum of that information into an easy to understand short video lecture series. In addition to the FB live video talks, there are also a few handouts and a overview powerpoint, which will be posted shortly after each session.

To participate, you’ll need to put a little skin in the game; a small investment from you to ensure that you are invested in this learning. $5. You will need to send paypal $5 to eleannamarieb@gmail.com. Then you will be added to a private facebook group for this webinar. Three FB live sessions will take place on October 5, 12, and 19 starting at 9 pm, but feel free to watch anytime at your leisure. Discussions and questions/answers will remain open until October 31 for this webconference.
