SCCS: Photo IDs for 2024-25

This year we are again offering photo identification cards for parents and students as an included service to you. These are not required, but many families use them for enrolled students who are younger than those who have driver licenses, and because teacher discounts apply to homeschool parents too!

2024 Back-to-School Celebration

We are excited to meet new SCCS families and hang out with old friends. There will be a quick welcome session in the building B warehouse, then we will enjoy visiting with many local supporters of homeschoolers.

2024 Majestic Caverns

9/16/2024 10:00 Majestic Caverns (formerly DeSoto Caverns) is a great day of fun and education. It's a full day trip for all ages with multiple activities. Admission includes 1 hour Caverns tour complete with an underground laser light show. Endless fun on over a dozen attractions! From archery to gem panning to putt-putt to cannon wars, crawl box, traverse wall climb, Happy's hoops, and many more! Admission is $38.98 per student. RSVP and pay here by 9/9.

24-25 ASO Coffee Concert: Saint-Saëns

09/27/2024 at 11:00 Described by Shostakovich himself as “festive or celebrative in spirit,” The Festive Overture begins with a brass fanfare which later reappears before the work’s coda. The concert concludes with Saint – Saëns Organ Symphony No. 3. It is popularly known as the Organ Symphony, since, unusually for a late-Romantic symphony, two of the four sections use the pipe organ. The composer inscribed it as: Symphonie No. 3 “avec orgue” (with organ).

 Friday, November 22, 2024 @ 11am- UAB's Alys Stephens Center Jemison Concert Hall $8/ticket The orchestra will play Bartok’s Concerto for orchestra. Bartók makes extensive use of classical elements in the work; for instance, the first and fifth movements are in sonata-allegro form. The work combines elements of Western art music and eastern European folk music, especially that of Hungary, and it departs from traditional tonality, often using non-traditional modes and artificial scales.
