Dear SCCS parents,
Shocked as I am, here we are in May, with less than a month of school to go for most families! Hopefully, you're eagerly anticipating the end of the year with a satisfied, grateful heart at all you've seen your children learn and accomplish. If you are like me, and perhaps some others, you may feel frustrated or disappointed with what did NOT get finished. Let me encourage you to finish these next few weeks well, without being discouraged. Focus on seeking the priorities God has placed on your mind and heart for what your students need as they complete this school year. A perfect checklist all marked off, and exactly how you had planned back in the summer, is so rare. Give yourself grace if you need to improve in time management or choose a better curriculum next year. If your family suffered illness, added a family member, experienced a loss, moved, or faced any other big change, you really need to factor that in as you look back and critique yourself. Perhaps you should work toward making changes for next year because of things you do have control over, but also admit it if this year was just a rough one or is winding down in less-than-spectacular fashion.
I wanted to share this blog by a friend who is also a homeschool mom. She's started sharing her thoughts, and what she is learning especially related to the concept of rest. I think everyone I know can benefit from this idea, regardless of our family size, age, or homeschooling experience. Please read it as you can and be encouraged!
We have only a few events this month. More activities will be planned for the summer, so I will keep you posted on those. Always remember you can check the website Blog or Events tabs for details, and the Facebook page is usually kept up-to-date with reminders. Have a great week!
