Dear SCCS parents,

Welcome to 2018! I am thankful to have you with us for the second semester of the school year and pray that your holiday season was enjoyable and a time of sweet memory making. I know many of us have been fighting viruses and even the flu, and pray your family is healthy physically. It is tough to resume the school schedule after a break, but when not totally healthy, it's extra difficult.

Here is a passage I have been reading frequently as I have been pondering what my "word" for 2018 is. Often, people feel led to a word that signifies the area they're focusing on for the coming year, or a meaningful term that they aspire to achieve, or something they are praying that the Lord grants. Psalm 40 has always been a favorite and the end of that chapter stood out to me after I reread it several times lately.
But may all who seek you
    rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who love your salvation
    say continually, “Great is the Lord!”
 As for me, I am poor and needy,
    but the Lord takes thought for me.
You are my help and my deliverer;
    do not delay, O my God!

Whether you have felt there is one word for you to focus on or not, I pray that you know His salvation and help in this coming year. That's encouraging through tough days of homeschooling, a flu epidemic, troublesome issues in our government, and financial strain.
