Dear SCCS parents,

'Tis the season for busyness and celebration for sure! Thankfully, we are able to enjoy special activities with our children as we also teach them in this season, and I hope that you're finding time to soak up fun moments while also working on finishing the semester out strong!

There are also many burdens around us, within our community, country, and this world. We cannot escape the very heavy loads that a lot of us carry, and it is foolish to pretend that even wonderful holidays are not often very bittersweet. I have been praying for God to give us all the needed strength to balance that hope for His joy to fill us, with the ability to ache in longing and admit that we are unable to ever fully realize that joy outside of Him. That brings me full circle to His coming to this earth, amid much sorrow and pain, to give the greatest Hope ever to us. Oh, what a reason we have to celebrate! This world is not all there is, and His birth changed everything for followers of Christ. I pray that gives you much reason to rejoice and strengthens your heart if your family is struggling too, during this season. I love Christmas carols and hymns and this excerpt from "O Holy Night" just fits so perfectly with my prayer for us all I wanted to remind you too!

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices,
for yonder breaks, a new and glorious morn.
