Dauphin Island Sea Lab Discovery Hall Educational Programs Field Trip

SCCS is planning a family field trip to the Sea Lab at Dauphin Island next fall. Our participation depends on meeting the minimum numbers so please read the info below and respond if you’re interested by April 15.

The trip is Sunday, November 24 – Tuesday, November 26 with meals, lodging, museum trip, and classes are included. We are focusing on middle and high school students for this trip, though there is an option for younger students to join. More info on that farther down.

Check out more at the website: DISL.org to see the programs offered. These are all very hands-on. We will probably do a few like the Salt Marsh Class, the Productive Plankton, Coastal Oceanography.

Grades 5-7 Cost: Approximately $130, includes on-campus lodging, meals, 4 Classes and Estuarium Museum admission.

Grades 8-12 Cost: Approximately $160, includes on-campus lodging, 4 Classes (one of which is a 3 hour Boat excursion), and Estuarium Museum admission.

Chaperones Cost: Approximately $100 includes on-campus lodging, meals and access to classes with students.

Once you RSVP, payment is due in 3 payments, with 1/3 deposit May 15, and other 1/3 payments in July and Sept 1.

Additional parents and younger children are welcome to stay off-campus at the campground or other lodging, and, if there is interest, we can book 2 classes for the younger students, and Estuarium admission, as well. Cost for these activities would total approximately $25 per person, depending on the number interested.

We need a minimum of 20 Students in each group (maximum 35) to make this work, but we need to confirm these dates ASAP. Deadline to RSVP is 4/15. Complete the form sent via email or contact adminsccschool@gmail.com for the form, and forward to Donna to save your spots.
