Dear parents,

As we move into this last full month of school for many families, I asked one of our SCCS moms (who serves as a chaplain and spiritual encourager for our families, along with her husband) to share something from her heart and Christian walk that would minister to us. For those of you who have not been gifted by knowing this couple, Carol and Kuna Griggs are available to meet with any SCCS families and have assisted several of you in the past with school advice, curriculum and planning, mentoring, and support. Their kind spirits are so evident and I love their family's focus on serving the Lord, and others. Carol wrote this month's note to encourage us all, and I felt it was so timely. If you ever want to email the Griggs, here is their email address. Thanks Carol, for the word below!

Celebration the Resurrection of our Lord is often a busy time.  As families, we pray, discuss the significance of the Resurrection, fellowship with other believers, and often hunt little eggs stuffed with a wide array of goodies!  But the time right after Resurrection Day is calmer and us getting back to our routine.  We get back to our homeschool curriculum, our normal weekly schedule, and often the pressures that come along with teaching and raising our children.  But there is so much more that should follow the Resurrection of our Lord. These were His words,

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (ESV, Matt. 28:18-20).

The time after His resurrection, is not calm. Rather it comes with a call. It comes with a commission. It comes with a very direct path upon which we are called to walk. We are to make disciples.

Now, I know that this is something that we all know; but Jesus does not say make scholars.  He calls us to make disciples of His kingdom and to teach them all the He has commanded.  We all know the busyness that comes with homeschool.  We teach our children with the hope of them excelling and becoming great thinkers. We want them to go to college and do well.  And that is not a bad idea.  But is that what Jesus wants?  His commission is to make disciples and that, dear friends, is what we should remain focused on.  Be encouraged. Even if your child is not doing so well, or even if you are not doing so well, there is something that you can do.  Remain focused on our Lord's kingdom. Teach your children the wonders of God and the beautiful life of Christ.  Teach them of God's amazing attributes and all that He did for Israel.  And even more, what He did for us on the cross and how that affected the entire world from them until now and will continue to impact the world until He returns!  Stay focused friends and do not let our busy days, busy lives, busy weeks, or even the difficulties get in the way of us making disciples.  Even if we are not physically able ourselves to reach the ends of the Earth, perhaps the seed of faith in our children will do what we were unable to do.

May the Lord comfort and guide you in making disciples for Him! Amen!
