21 Friday Dismals Canyon in Franklin Co, AL : caverns tour, exploration, picnic.
It is a 1.5 mile hike in the canyon floor. There is a “ leave nothing, take nothing” policy. You may have to walk on slippery terrain and wade through water up to ankle deep. 1st grade and up is listed on their site as the ages for whom they have hosted school trips, but some younger children may not be able to handle the terrain and length of the hike, depending on the child. The canyon floor IS NOT wheelchair accessible. There are stairs to traverse in order to get down onto the canyon floor, and the trail is on very uneven terrain.
Adult: $8.50, Grades 1-6: $5.25, Grades 7-12: $7.75
